with only six runners in the race
I heard a Whisperinthebreeze
he's a lovely grey who wants to please
he's been going close in every race
he could breeze up and win this chase
he will need to jump bold and need to jump bigger
the one to take some beating will be Gun Digger
by the Sire Stowaway a very good horse on his day
over the fences he's made a good start
so without a doubt he'll be playing a part
Bacardys could be worth a shot
he won three hurdles at a trot
but jumping is going to be the key
so Gun Digger is the one for me.
The Christmas Hurdle at 1.50
it may be 3 miles but it will be nifty
the fabulous Faugheen is on parade
but he has a contender in Apple's Jade
but can she pip him to the post
her victory I would definitely toast
Apple's Jade is the one to surpass
she certainly has style and she has class
she could give them all the run around
to win and come home safe and sound.
At 2.25 the winner is hard to find
with 23 runners the cavalry comes to mind
the Wee Small Hours won't be running late
another in the running could be Church Gate
but Lake Takapuna could keep them at bay
and not far behind the Mighty Stowaway.
With the Christmas festivities in full flow
