Christmas Countdown 2018 - Day 8, The Fighting Fifth Hurdle by @Knocknamona

On Day 8 of our Christmas Countdown Tracey has very kindly sent her preview of the Fighting Fifth Hurdle from the start of the month where she got to see her hero Buveur D'Air put Samcro firmly in his place and prove to all the doubters that he is a true champion.

The Fighting Fifth Hurdle by @Knocknamona

It was a cold, wet, miserable day. I was ill. However, I was determined to go and see my racing hero Buveur D'Air
win The BetVictor Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle races on Saturday 1st December 2018.

I had written a poem called Will it be a fight in The Fighting Fifth Hurdle it was written in my usual style and tipping Buveur D'Air to win the race.

For Buveur D'Air it is a fight to prove that he is a champion. For me, it is a personal fight with ill-health. I am pleased to say that we are both continuing to win the fight.

There is only six runners
buy it is a champions race
The BetVictor Fighting Fifth Hurdle
we will definitely see some pace.
If we start at the top
is this a mystery to unlock
would it be a surprise
if the winner was Bedrock?
In his last race
he certainly put on a show
pushing clear approaching the last
and beating Samcro.
Buveur D'Air
Oh.... now we are talking
he looks like a champion
when he is walking
some facts and figures
to throw around
he's won fourteen races
and he won't mind the ground
look who he has beaten
this cannot be ignored
it really is no wonder
why he is adored.
Melon and John Constable
he passed and was gone
and two and a quarter lengths
he beat The New One.
Another Henderson horse
who everyone adores
second to Buveur D'Air
My Tent or Yours.
Cloudy Dream
and Gino Trail
always behind
Buveur D'Air's tail.
It shows the talent
this horse has got
he's well and truly
beat the lot.
Samcro is a contender
and he does always try
at Punchestown by sixteen lengths
he beat Mind's Eye
a Gordon Elliott horse
never underestimate
a man with a plan
his outcome we await.
Summerville Boy
is a progressive type
he's seen off Kalashnikov
and built up some hype.
Buveur D'Air or Samcro
our minds may toy
but could the winner
be Summerville Boy?
It's clear to see
and only fair
the winner will be
Buveur D'Air.
