CHAMPIONS DAY BY @BROWNLOWJ74

It was my first visit going to see Champions Day at Ascot. It was for me a big thumbs up for Champions Day, with lots of quality horses from start to finish of the meeting. Even though I still like to see the jockeys championship finished in November like it did in the previous years. But I have to say what a day.

But the highlight for me, but there was plenty of others to take out of the meeting. Was the fifth race middle distance Group 1 race. Watching from the stands you can tell from the race that the trainer of the winner Almanzor was very positive before the race. In the race, the colt put a fair distance from the extra consistent filly Found. Who finished second place in the race. Almanzor could be an Arc horse for next year, he's got the size and scope for the distance to have a crack at it to run in the Arc. But it's all but and maybe for this fella, interesting where he starts racing next flat season. From behind Found run another great race. Hoping to see where she goes next either a broodmare or one last swan song at the Breeders Cup meeting at Santa Anita. Other good efforts in the race was the grey, The Grey Gatsby from a very good ride by James Doyle.

It was great to see him in the mix of the race in the latter part of the race where he finished fifth in the race by five lengths from the winner. Also great to see was Jack Hobbs as well finishing 3rd place in the race. Behind the disappointment from his last run which resulted in pulling up in a race. But there were other very good winners in the meeting which I watch from the stands, like of Journey and Minding that took my eye on the day.
On the other part of the day at Ascot, it was great to see Jim Crowley been presented the Champions Jockey Trophy. Very well deserved winning the title. But also top marks for Josephine Gordon winning the apprentice title.

Putting all the hard work and winning some great races during the flat season, which rewarded her rightly winning the apprentice title. As a Racemaker on the day, it was great to see people looking forward, to the Champions Day meeting and great to see young racegoers which are the next generation for racing. All so it was great to interact with the people at Ascot who like there flat racing which was nice to see on the day.
