I'm aware that we've had some confusion in the past regarding what horses are in the entry form and which are not. It's the only issues that we've discussed as a team in the past and continues to cause issues.
I've been working to try and change our system so it tracks the current SP and remove horses that fall below the minimum price.
As we all work, we're unable to constantly check and update etc. and as we've always wanted to keep this fun, we took the decision to just use the price at the time the entry form opens as the benchmark.
As NapsLeague has grown, it's become clear that this isn't good enough and we need to improve.
To give you a couple of examples to illustrate the problem..
Under the current rules Dalila Du Seuil in the 2:10 at Hexham (the price was 1.72) was omitted from the entry form as it's below the 'Even money threshold', which seems fair. But... It's possible that the horse was only that price for a matter of moments and drifts out. As it stands (12:38pm) it's 2.25 so WOULD be available for selection.
I imagine that this could, and most likely does, cause frustration.
On the other hand..
The 3:00pm at Hexham we have Sporting Press whose price was 2.25 when we opened but is now 1.83. Some players would ignore this horse, believing that it won't be available, but it is.
So, as you can see from the above, we have a problem. Or as Howard would say "Huston we have a problem.!!!"
It's also worth mentioning that everyone submits at different times, so those who submit the night before are effectively at a disadvantage, as Nonrunners don't adjust our list of runners. I've seen in the past a horses price tumble to 1/5 and many players who wait until lunchtime to submit, can take advantage of this and select the horse.
So.. I've been busy 'tinkering' with the robots and I'm fairly confident that I've nailed it.
As from today, the system will check the price every hour and adjust the list of runners accordingly.
If a horse opens at 4/7 and drifts to 3/1 (does happen), it'll be in the list.
If a horse opens at 3/1 and tumbles to 4/7 (this happens more due to nonrunners) it'll be removed from the list.
THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART!
IF the horse is in the list, you can select it and its locked in. It WILL NOT be removed from your selection. So if you pick a horse and it's 3/1 and it tumbles to 4/7, you still have it, but NO ONE can select it once it's 4/7.

This Rule change will make it more competitive and will make the whole competition fair for all.
